Chandeliers and Cocktails Make the Perfect Accessory

Piper Smith asked:

Chandelier earrings and big cocktail rings were a hot jewelry trend in 2009 and it looks like they are going to stay hot into the 2010 season. When it comes to earrings and rings, the bigger the better. Instead of letting your outfit scream for attention, the 2010 season is all about bold accessories. Metallics like bronze, gold and copper can be seen everywhere. Big stones in colors like coral, yellow and green are also popular this year. Here are some tips and trend watches to help you score big in fashion in 2010.

The great thing about chandelier earrings is that they look great on any face shape. There are so many different options to choose from that you are bound to find a pair or two that are perfect for you. Celebrities can be seen wearing chandelier earrings to red carpet events all the time. What’s great about a big, bold pair of earrings is that you don’t need other accessories to complete the look. These dramatic earrings are the perfect ultra-feminine accessory for any outfit.

The obvious time to wear chandelier earrings is a night out on the town or any other glamorous event you are attending. They go great with a gown and an updo or even a nice pair of jeans and party top for the club. Fancy chandelier earrings can be found in just about any shape, size and color you can imagine. Anything with bronze or gold bases in large, fanning vintage designs is a sure-fire hit. Look for earrings with yellow, coral or green gemstones to be on the cutting edge of color trends. Surprisingly, chandelier earrings can also be worn with a very casual outfit. If you throw on a jersey and a pair of jeans for the game on Sunday, add a great pair of chandelier earrings for an unexpected feminine touch. Stay a bit simpler when going this route with a few long strands and a matte stone like turquoise or coral.

Another great accessory that can stand on its own is a cocktail ring. These can be so much fun to wear and can add a little something different to your outfit. Just like the chandelier earrings, bigger is better when it comes to cocktail rings! Choose something with a huge, sparkling stone or a big metallic flower. Yellow gold is really popular when it comes to cocktail ring styles. When going with yellow gold, find a ring with big emeralds or amethyst stones for an eye-catching accessory. Another big trend is a white gold ring with a huge black or peacock Tahitian pearl sitting up in a high setting.

Remember, when you put on a huge pair of chandelier earrings or a cocktail ring, you don’t need many other accessories, if any at all. The purpose of these oversized pieces is for them to make a bold statement on their own. Don’t be afraid to go a little bit crazy with accessories like this. A lot of times, the bolder you go, the greater the impact!

Sterling Silver Earrings – Silver is Sometimes Better Than Gold

Paul Etienne asked:

There are many types of sterling silver earrings although those shaped in hoops do seem to be very popular. They can be shaped in virtually any design possible. They can come in studs that are worn close to the ears, or they can come in shoulder sweeping chandelier earrings. There are so many types that there can easily be a different pair for each day of the year. They are fashioned into many shapes and sizes. Even among the sterling silver hoops there are variations in sizes. Some that are hoops are adorned with gems and other stones.

There are a couple of reasons why people opt for sterling silver earrings. Cost plays a big role in the decision for many people. They are a lot less expensive than earrings made from other precious metals. They can be fully half the price of gold earrings and less than half the price of platinum earrings. Some people choose them because they like the silver tone of them. They have been popular for a long time. They have survived many fashion trends and have adorned the ears of many celebrities and wealthy folks.

These earrings can be purchased any place that jewelry is sold. There are also a lot of clothing stores that sell them. Online venues also sell them. The cost is usually very reasonable when compared to the other precious metal counterparts. A pair can easily be found for less than twenty dollars, the more detail the more they will cost and of course the weigh also plays a roll in the cost. The heavier they are the more expensive they will be.

Sterling silver earrings should never be exposed to anything that has ammonia in the ingredients it will turn the sterling silver black. Caring for them is easy when using a silver polish specifically formulated to clean silver. Silver will tarnish over time and require a quick wipe down with polish cleaner and a soft cloth. They will last for years with the proper care.

Luscious Gold Earrings Can Act As a Status Symbol

Andrew Stratton asked:

Gold can create frenzy among people. It was discovered in California in 1848 and, once news spread, it spawned a huge migration of people moving West in search of this buttery-colored metal that would make them rich. Of course, people knew about this precious metal long before this and were wearing jewelry like hoop earrings and other pieces as a status symbol.

What do the different karats mean? This metal is measured in karat weight, but what does this mean? 10, 14, 18, 22 and 24 K refers to the actual amount found in the piece with 24K being pure. While it may seem that the more the better, for jewelry purposes like delicate gold chandelier earrings, the lower numbers are better. This is because, in its pure form, the metal is very soft. If a piece is going to keep its shape and be durable enough for daily wear, it must be stronger. To do this, other metals like nickel, zinc and copper are added to the mix. 10K is 25% gold and the strongest of the levels as well as the most affordable

The addition of other metals also causes variations in the color. White ones obtain their color from the addition of nickel and zinc. The rose-colored variety is influenced by copper additives. There are so many styles to choose from. Because of the practice of strengthening the metal with other alloys, jewelry designers can let their imaginations run wild when creating new pieces. The latest in jewelry trends is gold threader earrings. These actually thread through the piercing and, because of the long dangling back, there is no need for a backing. A “fob” in the form of a charm, gemstone or bead is utilized to keep the piece from threading all the way through.

Classic trends that have withstood the test of time are gold dangle earrings, drops and hoops. These can be simple or elaborate. Chandelier style, a variety of dangle, is often dressed up with diamond cuts or gemstones that make it really sparkle and shine. Plain hoops can be casual or dressy, but they can also be fun with the addition of designs or charms in the center of the hoop.

It is easy to clean. Soak pieces in warm soapy water and gently scrub with a brush for intricate pieces. A quick polish with a soft cloth brings them back to their luscious yellow shine. For filigree designs, be careful not to pick or bend the cut-out parts with the cloth. Though 10K and 14K is fairly strong, some designs are delicate and thin and can still be damaged.

The wonderful thing about this precious metal is that it doesn’t need anything else to make it special. Yes, gemstones and other decorations add to the appeal, but plain drop earrings and other styles say plenty on their own. As a gift, giving a piece like gold dangle earrings tells her that she is valued and special.

How To Choose Earrings That Flatter Your Face Shape

Janice Wee asked:

The conventionally perfect face shape is a perfectly proportioned oval. Few women have that perfect face shape, but through the careful choice of earrings, a woman can give the illusion of a slimmer or wider face, depending on the effect she wants.

For example, a woman with a round face might want to use accessories and makeup to make her face looks slimmer, unless she is a model. Models thrive on their unique looks, so she might want to highlight the roundness of her face.

A woman with a square face might want to soften the lines of her jaw, but if she views her face shape as an asset, she might want to emphasize the sharp angles of her face to stand out from the crowd.

Creating the illusion of a slimmer face, or a wider one, of sharper features or softer features is easier than you might think. All you need are the right earrings. The earrings have to be large enough to frame the face in order to have the necessary result. Tiny ear studs wouldn’t cut it. Larger earrings that are clearly visible when people look directly at you are necessary to help create these illusions. If you have an oval face, you can wear literally any kind of earrings and look great. If not, you can use earrings to make your face appear oval.

Let’s start with a thin, narrow face. What you need is something along the horizontal lines to give the illusion of width. Try a pair of round button earrings. From 70′s style plastic earrings to sophisticated diamond earrings in a large circular design to wooden ear clips would do fine. If you like hoops, wear huggies that are close to the ear and which are wide, to give the illusion of width.

To soften too sharp features, go for earring designs with curves or which are rounded. Hoop earrings work very well as would earrings with round beads or with circles in the design, or even waves.

To sharpen flat features, wear angular earrings. Triangles, stars and shapes that are pointed or with sharp lines would work very well.

For a round face or square face, you’d want the illusion of length. A dangling pendant or a cascade of beads that draw the attention along vertical lines would visually slim and lengthen your face. Shoulder dusters are your best friend, as are drop earrings and chandelier earrings [http://www.cheapestsale.com/jewelry/chandelier-earrings.html].

What jewlery to wear with my wedding gown?

KMS asked:

The link to my dress is below. The woman in the picture’s jewlery is way overdone. I love cinderella type dresses so this is my wedding gown. I just don’t know what to do for jewlery. Should I do necklace and stud earings or chandelier earrings with tiara and no necklace? Or any other suggestions. What would look best?
